We’re up early for a quick trip to the airport and our flight to Athens. Pretty uneventful.
At the Athens airport, we’re met by our driver, Nicholas, who grabs our luggage and ushers us out to our chariot for the week – a Mercedes-Benz taxi. Not as roomy as the van in Egypt, but pretty nice.
The high point of today is when we check in to the Marriott Ledra Hotel. Our friendly reception person asks us if we’d like the optional breakfast buffet package for $39 Euros ($50) per day. As we’re about to say “No thanks” she mentions that this includes not only a wonderful breakfast buffet for 2 but also free unlimited internet access, plus free soft drinks, juices, wine and beer from the minibar in the room. Let me think about that.. Oh sure, that will work!
