Villa La Angostura – R&R in the rain

It Rains Hard in Argentina – in Villa La Angostura

Though it has rained on and off for most of the last 10 days, today is a real gully washer here in Villa La Angostura. So we more or less decided to make this pretty much a day of relaxation and rest. There is also a fancy restaurant hiding out there.

Villa La Angostura Argentina Eagle SculptureWe generally skip the included breakfast, but today wanted to see what coffee was like again. You can guess what breakfast was –ham and cheese, yogurt, coffee and milk. One noticeable thing was the music. Somewhere in the background cooing on the Casa de Walmart all-in-one stereo was a remarkable blend of soft, sweet, music – reminiscent of American ballads and other songs that brought back memories of a long ago, soothing time in our lives. We asked Fernando, “What is that music? What channel? Perhaps a fine selection on XM radio?”

His response was, “No, I think it is an Argentinian compilation CD, American Love Songs of the 80’s.” Friends, in case you want to relive this inspiring, romantic time of your life, we now may have for you “American Love Songs of the 80’s”.

So – it is really raining! We have been needing to dedicate a small time to a little work, and blog catch-up, so this is it. Chandra, I would like you to know that I rewrote the basics of the Sales By Receipt Report at this time, more on that in a private email to you later.

I went downstairs and, while listening to American Love Songs of the 80’s, processed the 380 unread emails in my Inbox. This is the rough equivalent of an entire productive day in the office, so I am done till next year. Just kidding, Brad. Chandra will have that report THIS YEAR!

In addition, we wrote the blogs for the last three days. Carol has become quite proficient at a drag-and-drop little utility I found that instantaneously resizes pictures for the Internet, like for blogs. (Those interested, please see http://www.dzsoft.com/image-resizer.html .)

Realizing that we had to get something meaningful and productive done today, we went shopping in the town of Villa La Angostura. This town is a combination of La Jolla, Julian and Pacific Beach, all in the San Diego area of California. A half-mile of alternating high-end apparel shops, fine restaurants, ice-cream shops and knick-knacks. Lots of wood stuff like bowls and kitchen utensils. Our baggage weight is limited, so it is mostly looky-loo time.

The final task of the day is to eat dinner. The previous recommended Tinto Bistro restaurant in Villa La Angostura is now open, and Carol found a roast lamb with red-wine sauce and mashed bean-potato-garlic (can you imagine?) that will all resurface at our house some day. I settled for a two-bell-hot thai seafood and noodle dish. This may have been the best two-bell noodle I have ever had. And a pinot gris recommended by the house. Tomorrow it will have to be ham and cheese. HA!
